Associate Dean Departmental Assignments and Responsibilities

Formerly, Graduate Division Associate Deans have had specialized roles in two major areas: Student Support and Admissions/Student Academic Affairs. In the new configuration, each associate dean will work across these major areas for designated campus sectors. These changes are intended to encourage the development of more in-depth knowledge of issues and challenges facing graduate education in the different areas of our campus.

Additionally, each Associate Dean has been given primary responsibility over selected functional areas. Ross Shideler has responsibility for graduate student housing, academic program review, and serves as the liaison to the Graduate Council Committee on Degree Programs. Belinda Tucker has responsibility for postdoctoral and visiting scholar appointments and serves as the liaison to the Graduate Council Committee on on Fellowships and Assistantships. Carlos Grijalve has major responsibility for fellowships, outreach and diversity issues internally and externally.
