Doctoral Graduate Information
- In order to be eligible to participate, doctoral students
must obtain approval to file the dissertation from the Graduate Division and file the
completed manuscript in the library on or before June 2, 2008.
- Doctoral graduates are welcome and encouraged to attend both
this ceremony and the one conducted by their college or school. However, this is the one
official campus ceremony for the award of the doctoral degree.
- Doctoral students who complete the filing process are sent
an email invitation with information they need to participate in the ceremony. Students
who file during Spring receive the material soon after the dissertation is cleared by the
library.
- Graduates are responsible for renting the cap and gown (we
provide the hood). These are available through Graduation Etcetera (A Level of Ackerman
Union, phone 5-2587). Graduates receive the link to Graduation Etcetera with their letters
of invitation.
- Appetizers will be provided for the graduates and the
faculty before the ceremony and light refreshments for everyone following the ceremony.
- Complimentary parking is provided to all graduates and
guests who attend the Hooding Ceremony. Parking Structure 2 is conveniently located at
Hilgard and Westholme Avenues. After 6:00 p.m. your guests are welcome to park in
Structure 5 at Sunset Blvd. and Royce Drive. Please state you are attending the Hooding
Ceremony to receive a complimentary permit to display on your dashboard.
- For detailed instructions on participating, please view Instructions for Graduates.
